| The Women's Royal Army Corps Association was formed in 1949 on
the birth of the WRAC. The Association superseded and incorporated the
Army Territorial Service Old Comrades Association.
The Aims:
The aims of the WRAC Association are:
- To foster the esprit-de-corps and well being of the WRAC and ATS.
- To keep those who have served in or with the WRAC or ATS in touch with
one another with a view to keeping alive a spirit of comradeship.
- To establish links with the serving and ex-service members of the WRAC
and ATS with a view to helping the former during resettlement from Service
to Civilian life.
- To help, in conjunction with the ATS and WRAC Benevolent Fund and other
welfare agencies, both serving and ex-service members of the Corps
and their dependants who find themselves in difficult circumstances.
The Organization:
Working under the Headquarters, based in Worthy Down, Winchester, are the
Benevolent Fund Section and the Membership Section.
The Benevolent Fund Section.
The Benevolent Fund assists members of the ATS and WRAC by way of grants of
money or paying for items to reduce hardship or distress.
The Membership Section.
The Membership Section maintains records of all the branches located
throughout the country, plus their members. Any person who served in the ATS
or WRAC, either Regular or TA is eligible to join the Association.
Every Branch has an elected committee and is largely self supporting. Some
have their own standards.
