Hello to all
Band Branch members everywhere. I do hope you are all well and have survived the
winter wet. I am sure we
are looking forward to our next reunion and branch meeting in dear old
Skeggy on May Bank Holiday
2010. We are fortunate to have a member who has moved to Skegness and she will
very helpfully do the research of what entertainment and places of interest will
be available.
The recent anniversary of the
Berlin Wall coming down brought back many
memories for us as we were in
Berlin before the wall was built. I was actually
there the day it came down and I
even have a piece of the original wall.
I do recall we had rather a lot
of fun in Berlin maybe a few sore heads, and the
memory of Mandy?
I must thank those of you who
have paid your Band Branch subs very promptly. We were running very low, but one
kind member has generously loaned
£200 to be repaid when we have a
very successful Tombola. I
also receive books of stamps from some which is very helpful as that is where
most of our costs arise.
Those of you who have yet to send, please do so as it is not really fair for our
other
members to support you.
Unfortunately, I have to report
that WO1 Edward (Ted) Stevens passed away on 29 December 2009 after a long
battle with cancer. Those of us who served with him will be sad to hear the news
but will also have fond memories of his time as Band Sergeant Major in the early
days of the Band.
