Applications
If you feel that you might qualify for financial assistance,
please apply to your local Royal British Legion or SSAFA office in the first
instance. |

The ATS (Auxiliary Territorial Service) & WRAC (Women's Royal Army
Corps) Benevolent Fund has been in existence since World War 2. It is the
welfare part of the WRAC Association, which is a network organization for
women who have served in the Army in either the ATS during the war or in the
WRAC between 1949 and 1992 when the Corps was disbanded.
The ATS & WRAC Benevolent Fund receives all applications for financial
assistance through Soldiers, Sailors, Airman and Families Association (SSAFA)
or Royal British Legion caseworkers. They visit the applicants and submit
whatever forms are necessary. The Fund will usually make one-off grants but
can also help with making up the shortfall for Nursing Home Fees. It also
supports some annuitants who receive regular payments throughout the year.
They may be financed directly by the ATS & WRAC Benevolent Fund or through
a similar scheme run by the Army Benevolent Fund.
Very often, the Fund has to seek support from other service or civilian
charities to make up the whole amount required. To enable the Fund to continue
to help ex-servicewomen who are now suffering hardship, it is reliant entirely
upon donations, investment income and legacies. Recently, the Fund has been
able to disburse approximately £150,000 each year. Although this has been
adequate, the demands grow and the Fund must look to the future.
ALL DONATIONS WOULD BE GRATEFULLY RECEIVED
