The Cambridge Branch was formed on 18th April 1980 and now has 66 members.

At our meetings we chat about old times, have a raffle, the proceeds going towards Branch funds, we make occasional donations to the WRAC Association and the ATS/WRAC Benevolent Fund.

All meetings take place in the Sergeants Mess, Waterbeach Barracks, Waterbeach, Cambridge, on the First Monday of every month. If there is a Bank Holiday then the next available Monday is used. Meetings take place between 1945hrs - 2200hrs. We do not have an official meeting in August but do go out for a meal or have a barbecue. We always have a Christmas Dinner.

Cambridge Branch

This is an account of Branch activities since the last report after the AGM in London in 2008. A lovely ‘outside eating experience’ was held at Janet Herdman’s garden in July. Due to transport difficulties the September meeting was held on Sunday 31 August in Jean Farrington’s garden, followed by an excellent lunch – we had the pleasure of the company of Margaret from the Canterbury Branch. Three members had a good time at the WRAC Dinner Club weekend in Liverpool.

In October we met up with the Norfolk Branch, our Area Chairman Patricia Stevenson and Liz Ives from Ipswich, for a lunch at the Linden Tree in Bury St Edmunds – my thanks to Lyn Hatch for organising. Our Christmas Dinner was held at The University Centre in Cambridge and the January and February meetings had to be cancelled because of inclement weather.

Wendy Hooton, Avril Williams and newfound friend at the Grand Reunion

A fantastic time was had at the Grand Reunion at Blackpool and I met up with several ladies I served with at Guildford 31 years ago! As a result of meeting up at the Grand Reunion, we now have three new attendees at our meetings. Welcome to Jean Legg and Pam Sussex (ex Postal) and Joan Ellis (ex Band). Our 28th AGM was held on Tuesday 6 April.
