Earlier in the year in June,
four Branch members enjoyed an all expenses paid trip to
London courtesy of the Not
Forgotten Association and you can see a report of their trip elsewhere in
the magazine. In July we held our
Summer Tea Party with our
friends from Medway Branch and members of the WRAF
and WRNS Associations also
came along.

They were obviously very
tasty!
Sadly, due to unforeseen
circumstances, we were unable to hold our annual August meeting at Mavis's
beach hut but we all met again in September to collect our subs
and discuss our programme for
2010. October is the month for our AGM and in
November Liz Cork paid us a
return visit to update us on the work of the Donkey
Sanctuary.
Our year finished with
36
members and guests enjoying a
Christmas meal in the lovely festive surroundings of the Dominican Priory
where we hold our monthly
meetings, usually on the
first Wednesday of the month.
When I took over as Secretary
in 2001 (was it really that long ago?), we had at least
30 members attend meetings.
However, our numbers are slowly dwindling and an
average of 18 is now the
norm. So, may I take this opportunity to ask our ex-WRAC
members to think about taking
a more active role in the branch, to continue the good
work started by our ex-ATS
members over 60 years ago? A plea, I'm sure, that is
echoed by many other
branches.
