.
We are glad to be able to report
that the celebrations for our 19th Anniversary went
off well: a nice hotel with a
garden on a very sunny day made it all the
more enjoyable and we pleased to
welcome our Area Chairman, Mrs. Patricia
Stevenson, again.
September
- Following our summer break we
resumed our usual meeting day on the
third Tuesday of the month at the
RAFA Club in Chelmsford. A competition on "Our
favourite poem" produced a very
good response from members and made this a really
good meeting. The winning poem
titled "England" was read by Barbara Rayment.
October
- Our Branch AGM is held then and
we re-elected our Officers and
Committee. This did not take long
as everyone was happy to continue serving so we got with the important bit of
tea served with scones and jam!
November
- Usually a cold wet and dark day
but a record number turned up to listen to a speaker who told us about the
origin of Christmas, mince-pies and other
Christmassy "Old customs" which
was fascinating listening.
December
- Once more we held our Christmas
Lunch at a hotel on the outskirts of
Chelmsford where we always find
first-class food and friendly service. Patricia joined us again and we
appreciated her giving the Toast to the Queen along with a few words
to members.
We look forward to the New Year
and hope it is not too late to wish other branches a successful year with lots
of new members.
Our sincere thanks to everyone at
Worthy Down to whom nothing seems too much
trouble.
Do please contact the Hon.
Secretary if you live in the Chelmsford area and are not
already a member. If you
would like to join us, you will be made very welcome. Tel: 01245
