We have had a very happy and companionable
year together. Three members of our Committee were extremely hospitable.
Helen Jeffries arranged a lovely lunch and entertainment for us in Templand
Village Hall opposite her house, Dorah Mundell entertained us to another one
of her delightful Social Teas at her home and Susan Marcroft treated us to a
most delicious tea, mostly baked by herself, in Dalbeattie Church Hall.
Members also enjoyed other events including a day out at Gretna Gateway,
sharing the coach with Dalbeattie SWRI to cut costs. Editor: - sounds
like a good idea that other branches may wish to consider. It was most
successful: one member won a pair of ‘Hotter’ shoes and each of us received
a £5 voucher. This was followed by tea at Powfoot.

Dumfries and Galloway Branch with Dalbeattie
SWRI
Susan Marcroft represented our Branch at
Westminster Abbey for the Remembrance Service and it was a moving and
wonderful experience.
Some of our members have been busy baking for
groups of soldiers in Afghanistan, who are up here in Dumfries and Galloway
for a week’s rest and recuperation. I am told they loved the home baking and
had hearty appetites! |
