We
don’t go into print very often as we only meet three times a year. We cannot
compete with our sister branches around the country.
Our average attendance is 40 which is pretty good for our ages and the
distance which must be travelled to get into central London. We are now very
pleased with our new venue at Knightsbridge Barracks and we hope we will be
fortunate enough to be able to stay there for many years to come!
At our September meeting, we had a
most enjoyable talk from a SSAFA worker who told us of his adventures as a
National Service soldier. Prior to that, he had been a Bevan Boy leading
ponies in the pit, so was enrolled in the Veterinary Corps because of his
experience with animals!
We
were represented at the Field of Remembrance outside Westminster Abbey, The
Cenotaph Parade and also the Westminster Abbey Service on Remembrance Sunday.
We are lucky to be on hand for the London highlights and we will fulfil
our usual tasks at the Association AGM in 2007 at the Victory Services Club.
