The year 2010 is now with us and we hope all
our colleagues in the Association will have a healthy and contented year –
may our comradeship thrive.
For Hastings Branch the year 2009 followed
its usual pattern of meetings, speakers, outings and our monthly luncheon
club. Our strawberry tea was held in a beautiful garden in Bletchley, the
home of the daughter of one of our members – Joan Duck.
We welcomed just one new member during the
year, so attendance at meetings remains at an average of twelve – several
members live afar and several are unfortunately in residential or nursing
homes.
We were sorry our Secretary, Dorothy Dixon,
had to resign from the position due to ill health. Dorothy started Hastings
Branch and, in addition, to a stint as Treasurer and also Chairman, she had
completed 21 years as Secretary. Thanking her for her contribution to the
Branch our President presented her with flowers and – as she had completed
40 years in the Association – the gold plated badge which she was delighted
to receive as a gift from the Branch.
We are fortunate that the Reverend Barbara
Hobbs has volunteered to act as our Secretary – ex-WRAC she is computer
literate and not yet entitled to a free bus pass!
So we send greetings to you all and should
you visit Hastings in the summer, please do make contact. |
