With help from all
members we are carrying on with monthly meetings. In January we lost one of
our longest serving members, Mollie James. She was a staunch and hard
working member and will be sorely missed by members from around the country.
Apart from being a mainstay of Leeds Branch, she was well known to all the
ATS in the AA Command Branch of the RA Association and was passionate about
the annual reunions in York. In spite of very poor health recently, she took
part in all WRAC Association activities. Mollie was an inspiration to all
who knew her. Six members attended her cremation and a contribution was sent
to the Benevolent Fund in her memory.
Our Christmas Lunch
was a very happy birthday for Mary Clements. Our February meeting was
cancelled due to dangerous, icy pavements so we had our yearly Bring and Buy
Sale in March. This raises funds to subsidise Branch activities.
Five members attended
the Grand Reunion in Blackpool where a good time was had by all. Our May
lunch was to celebrate Pat Carter’s birthday. On 4 July ten members will
join Leeds Branch RA Association on a visit to the National Memorial
Arboretum on RA Day. In August we hope to have an outing to Wetherby
including a pub lunch. In September, ten members will travel to York for
North Area lunch and reunion. No members will be in London for Remembrance
Day this year as we shall all take part in our several local celebrations.
How time
flies when you are enjoying yourself – and we certainly keep busy in Leeds.
