The Liverpool Branch continues to meet
courtesy of the Adelphi Hotel in the city centre. About twelve of us meet
on the third Wednesday of the month for lunch and then others join us for
our get together. We have our Christmas Party at the hotel – we are looking
forward to this one on December.
In June we had a speaker from one of the
oldest department stores in Liverpool – a Mr Lefton from T J Hughes, he was
very interesting and entertaining.
One of our earlier members, Helen Hudson,
kindly left us a small legacy in her will through which we could enjoy some
social events, so in September a party of us went to the National Memorial
Arboretum for a visit. Two small poppy wreaths were laid, one in
remembrance of fallen ATS comrades and the other for Helen.
They all had a good day and enjoyed lunch
thanks to Helen.
In October we entertained our sisters from
the WRNS Association for lunch, a good time was had by all. On 10 December
some of our members will be going on a river cruise with the “Not Forgotten”
Association.
I have just taken over as Secretary to the
Branch and would like to thank Margery Hay the previous secretary for all
her hard work – hope I can meet her standard. We will give a warm welcome
to any ex-ATS or WRAC who would like to join us – we look forward to hearing
from you.
Hope this is okay for a first attempt – best
wishes for Christmas and New Year. Editor: looks fine to me! Well done
on volunteering to take over as Branch Secretary as well.
