Once again our branch has
been quite active and we have gained three new members! In June, Alison gave
an illustrated talk about her recent holiday in Indonesia and Java.
We visited the Army
Air Corps Museum at Middle Wallop in July which was most interesting.
We all look forward to our
annual garden party in Val's garden and we were very lucky
to have a fine day (quite
unusual last August!). We were also fortunate to welcome Maj Jane Freebairn,
the General Secretary, and Maj Gabi
Shanahan, Benevolent Fund
Case Secretary. We also welcomed two new members from
Bulford, Linda and Jackie
Clark.

Salisbury Branch and visitors
Carol Ederle's brain-taxing
competitions were won by Chris Overy and Major Shanahan.
The competitions and sale
raised £71.
On behalf of the members
Gladys Pope thanked Val for her hospitality and presented her with a large
bird feeder.

Sadly our September meeting
was cancelled so that members could attend the funeral of
Veronica Dodkins who had been
a popular treasurer for the branch for over 40
years.
We held our AGM in
October when the committee was re-elected en bloc. Joan Freeland thanked
them for all their hard work, keeping the Branch together with
enjoyable monthly meetings.
There were plenty of suggestions for next year's
programme and our secretary
will circulate the list later.
On the 20th
September sixteen members attended the South and South West Area Reunion
hosted by Weymouth Branch. A lovely meal, a good raffle, lots of chat to
friends, what a splendid way to spend the day. Thank you Weymouth.

At our November business
meeting, final plans were discussed for our own Christmas Lunch. We
are also fortunate to have
been invited by the Royal Artillery at Larkhill to a Veterans’ Lunch, so we
shall soon be full of Christmas pudding!
Gladys Pope reported
on the WRAC Association's participation at the Remembrance Parade in
London and her visit to the
Albert Hall for the afternoon concert.
We then had a general
discussion which included Elsie Sanderson recalling her time as an
instructor at
Guildford in the 1950s. This didn't really match the memories of some 1950s
recruits!
Thank you Headquarters for
the last bumper issue of the
Lioness,
much enjoyed by us all.
