The Stirling Branch has three life members and
thirty annual members and together this amounts to 15-20 members who attend the
monthly meetings. They are held in the Allan Park Hotel on the last Saturday of
every month and we have a bar lunch and a lot of chat. We are given very
comfortable accommodation in the conservatory and menus are adjusted to suit our
requirements.
We were invited to take part in a project, which
has been organised in Central Scotland by “Going Carbon Neutral” and “Keep
Scotland Beautiful”. At our meeting each month we are asked to answer -
truthfully – such questions as “Do you make sure you have a full load before
switching on your washing machine?”. Up until now, if the truth be told, we
are ‘keeping Scotland beautiful’.
In October a group from our Branch attended the
Scottish Area AGM being held in Perth. This celebrated the 60th anniversary of
the WRAC and the 90th
Anniversary of the Association itself so we were looking forward to this special
occasion and enjoyed a wonderful lunch – and cake!
In November the Royal British Legion has invited
a deputation from this Branch to attend the Falkirk Festival of Remembrance in
the Town Hall and it is hoped that at least three members will attend. The same
weekend, there will be a Remembrance Service in the Church of the Holy Rude in
Stirling and a parade to the War Memorial. Hopefully the Branch will be
represented here too.
It must be said that Lioness just gets
bigger and bigger and the Editor surpassed herself in the last edition with the
stories and pictures of the Blackpool Reunion. How we all wish we could have
been there but at least we always see someone in the photographs that we have
met before. Perhaps next time it will be our turn. Keep up the good work! |
