Our
Branch has had a full and varied year. We
are rather a small Branch but, with a number of willing drivers, we manage to
accommodate all our members.
We
continue to meet on the 4th Tuesday of each month.
Fourteen members attended our April meeting when we heard a most
interesting speaker, Mrs Morny Davidson, who is a “visitor” at Felton
Young Offenders Prison. Her
organisation is to be admired for their dedication in helping the boys not to
re-offend when they have served their sentence.
A
Garden Party at the home of our President was a great success.
Strawberries and cream were served together with delicious cakes made
by members. A Coffee Morning held in May was very successful and raised nearly
£170 for funds. We visited Wimborne in Dorset for a summer outing.
Travelling by minibus we visited a very interesting Craft Centre, then
onto a thatched pub, where a delicious lunch was served.
The afternoon was spent exploring the town.
At
the AGM, Diana, our Vice Chairman said she had decided not to see re-election.
She has been on the Committee ever since the branch was formed serving
as Vice Chairman most of that time. We
are delighted she will continue to attend Committee Meetings.
A
number of us are attending the Remembrance Service with the Parish Church,
laying our poppies and remembering those war years which must not be
forgotten.
We
now look forward to the Christmas Lunch, which will be held in the Dolphin,
our favorite hostelry.
Best
wishes to all Branches.
